چکیده

Source separated toilet water (black water; BW) is an important alternative nutrient source for agriculture. However, reuse and recovery of nutrients from BW limited by the presence pollutants, such as pathogens micropollutants. In this study, fate micropollutants during thermophilic hyper-thermophilic anaerobic digestion (AD) concentrated vacuum collected assessed. A total eight pharmaceuticals were selected spiked with two distinct loading rates to treated in Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket Reactors (UASB). The removal these was followed measuring concentrations liquid phase. It shown that micropollutant rate did not affect efficiency. Irbesartan, propanol, sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim almost completely removed under both conditions (>95% removal). Metoprolol had 74% conditions. Caffeine showed high desorption solids, whereas carbamazepine thought be sorption sludge UASB reactor. Diclofenac < 30% temperature conditions, which may have been caused lack adaptation limits biodegradation. There no differences efficiencies between AD BW. Therefore, it concluded sufficient safe terms presence.

Kinetics of inactivation of indicator pathogens during thermophilic anaerobic digestion.

Thermophilic anaerobic sludge digestion is a promising process to divert waste to beneficial use, but an important question is the required temperature and holding time to achieve a given degree of pathogen inactivation. In this study, the kinetics of inactivation of Ascaris suum and vaccine strain poliovirus type 1 (PVS-1), selected as indicators for helminth ova and enteric viruses respective...

Methanosarcinaceae and acetate-oxidizing pathways dominate in high-rate thermophilic anaerobic digestion of waste-activated sludge.

This study investigated the process of high-rate, high-temperature methanogenesis to enable very-high-volume loading during anaerobic digestion of waste-activated sludge. Reducing the hydraulic retention time (HRT) from 15 to 20 days in mesophilic digestion down to 3 days was achievable at a thermophilic temperature (55°C) with stable digester performance and methanogenic activity. A volatile s...

Startup and Stability of Thermophilic Anaerobic Digestion of Ofmsw

4 ABSTRACT: Anaerobic digestion (AD) of the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) 5 is promoted as an energy source and more recently as a GHG mitigation measure. In this context, AD 6 systems operating at thermophilic temperatures (55-60C) – compared to mesophilic temperatures 7 (35-40C) – have the unique feature of producing hygienic soil conditioners with greater process 8 effici...

Optimization of Anaerobic Digestion of Sewage Sludge Using Thermophilic Anaerobic Pre-Treatment

In this study, we investigated by running continuous stirred tank reactor the effects of different thermophilic temperatures (55, 60, 65, 70, 75 and 80C) for different hydraulic retention times (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 days, respectively) on the pretreatment of sewage sludge. We found that hydrolysis was mainly determined by temperature instead of hydraulic retention time, i.e. the high...
